After having over 180 loads of fill hauled in to eliminate our swamp, we leveled 10,000 square feet and "harrowed" it by pulling a fireplace grate -- with 3 cinder blocks on it -- behind the pickup (Picture 1). On May 31st, we had it hydroseeded (Video). We tried to water it from the creek with our submersible pump, but it didn't work too well, so we bought an irrigation pump and couldn't get it to work. It took us a couple of days to figure out that the pump had a leaky seal and to get it fixed. Then it took two or three tries to get just the right sprinklers. We were worried that the seeds sat too many days without water, but finally, we're starting to see grass!
